When you capture a booking, TravelFlow works out your commission from a single agency-wide rate and a single calculation base. This article explains how that number is produced and exactly where in the app you can see it.

How Commission Is Calculated

On the consultant booking form the app takes your Base Price, adds the Auto Markup produced by the agency's markup rules, and then applies the commission rate to whichever base your agency has configured:

  • Markup Amount — the rate is applied to the markup only. Base R 5 000 with R 1 000 of markup, at 10%, earns R 100.
  • Base Amount — the rate is applied to the base price. The same booking at 10% earns R 500.
  • Subtotal (Base + Markup) — the rate is applied to base plus markup. The same booking at 10% earns R 600.

Taxes and fees are added to the total price but are never part of the commission base, no matter which option is selected.

Tip: the rate and the base live under Admin > Company Settings, in the Commission Settings section (“Default Commission Rate (%)” and “Calculation Base”). They are not under Admin > Pricing — that page only has Markup Rules, Analytics and Test Pricing. If the setting has never been saved, the app falls back to 10% on the markup.

There Is No Per-Booking Override

On the new booking form, Your Commission (ZAR) is a read-only field. It recalculates whenever the base price, taxes, booking type or flight class change, and you cannot type over it. The same applies to Auto Markup (ZAR), which lists the markup rules that were applied underneath it. Changing what you earn on a booking means changing the markup rules or the company commission settings — there is no per-booking rate override anywhere in the consultant flow.

Where to See Commission

  • While capturing a booking — the pricing step shows base price, auto markup, taxes, your commission, and the total price.
  • My Bookings — the Commission tile at the top of Bookings > My Bookings totals commission across whatever the current filters leave on screen. There is no commission column in the table itself, but the CSV export has one, and the per-booking confirmation download includes a Commission line in its financial summary.
  • Analytics > Reports — a Booked Commission KPI card for the selected period (Today, This Week, This Month, Last Month, This Quarter, This Year), with the commission on cancelled bookings stated underneath. The Sales Report and Financial Report CSV downloads each carry a Commission column.
  • Analytics > My Performance — a Booked Commission KPI with growth against the comparison period and the commission on cancelled bookings stated underneath, plus a Commission by Supplier chart. Note the breakdown is by supplier, not by service type.

There is no commission-only export. The export menu on My Performance offers Export KPIs, Export Booking-value Trend and Export Top Clients; to get a commission list, use the Sales or Financial report CSV from Analytics > Reports, or export from My Bookings.

Important: every commission figure in the app is a plain sum of the commission stored on each booking in the date range. Nothing filters on booking status, confirmation or whether the client has actually paid — draft, pending and cancelled bookings are all counted. Treat these totals as pipeline, not as earnings, and reconcile against paid invoices before you rely on them.
