Payment Holds and Re-authorization

Some actions in TravelFlow are throttled per user to protect the platform and the supplier connections behind it. When you go over a limit the request is rejected with Too many requests and the message “Rate limit exceeded. Please try again later.” Nothing is broken and nothing is lost — the action simply has to be repeated after a short wait.

What Is Throttled

  • Hotel, flight and car searches — 20 searches per minute per user.
  • Exports (reports, transactions) — 10 per minute per user.
  • Imports (bank statements, accounting data) — 5 per minute per user.
  • New booking requests, travel requests and other numbered documents — 10 numbers per minute per traveller or organisation user, 60 for agency staff.

The limits are counted per user, not per organization, so a colleague's activity does not consume your allowance.

How Long to Wait

Each limit is measured over a one-minute window, and the rejected response carries a retry-after value telling the browser how many seconds remain. In practice, waiting a full minute before the next attempt is enough. Retrying immediately just consumes attempts and keeps the window busy.

Why You Hit the Limit

  1. Re-running a slow search. A hotel search can take up to about 45 seconds. Clicking search again while one is running starts a second one; a handful of those hits the 20-per-minute limit quickly.
  2. Clicking export repeatedly. Exports are not queued. Every click is a fresh request, so five impatient clicks are five of your ten per minute.
  3. Bulk work in several tabs. Running searches or exports from multiple tabs counts against the same per-user allowance.

Working Within the Limits

Let a search or export finish before starting another one, narrow searches instead of repeating broad ones, and split large exports by date range rather than retrying the same oversized one. For bulk imports, upload files one at a time and wait for each to be processed.

Tip: A rate-limit message is not the same as a failure. If you were exporting or searching when it appeared, no partial file was produced and no data was changed — just repeat the action after a minute.
