Importing Bank Statements

The accounting dashboard at /accounting/dashboard is the home screen of the accounting portal. The brand link in the top left and the “Back to Accounting” buttons on the other screens all return here. A Dashboard item appears in the top navigation for Super Admins; Accountants and Accountant Admins reach it through those back links.

The Four Stat Cards

  • Total Assets — the sum of the balance stored on every asset account.
  • Total Liabilities — the same sum across liability accounts.
  • Net Income — revenue account balances less expense account balances.
  • Cash Flow — inflows less outflows from posted transactions in the last 30 South African calendar days, today included.

The change indicator under each card shows “--” because period-over-period comparison is not implemented yet.

Read these cards with care. They are built from the balance field stored on each account record, and posting a transaction does not currently write back to that field. Unless balances were loaded through an opening-balance import, expect the cards to read zero even when there is activity in the ledger.

Recent Transactions and Account Balances

The main column lists recent transactions with description, type, amount, date and status, newest first. View all opens Accounting > Transactions > Ledger and the new-transaction button opens the capture form. Below it, Key Account Balances lists the five highest-balance accounts with their code and type, and links to the Chart of Accounts.

The Sidebar

On wide screens a sidebar shows three panels:

  1. Pending Tasks — currently always shows “No pending tasks”; nothing populates this list yet.
  2. Quick Actions — Record Payment and Create Invoice both open the New Transaction form (neither opens an invoice or payment screen), Financial Reports opens the reports library and Data Import/Export opens the import screen.
  3. VAT Summary — VAT Collected, VAT Paid and Net VAT Due for the current calendar month.
Tip: Treat the dashboard as a navigation hub and a quick view of recent activity. For figures you are going to report on, use the Ledger, the aging reports and the VAT screen.
