Notifications and Alerts

The Explore menu in the top navigation holds two browsing pages — Deals and Destinations. Neither one books anything. Both show live hotel rates for a sample stay and hand you into the normal search results for that same stay.

Travel Deals

Explore > Deals is not a list of negotiated offers. The page runs one live hotel search over South Africa for a three-night stay a week ahead, for two guests, and turns each priced hotel it finds into a deal card. Filter the cards with the Search deals box, a type dropdown (Flights, Hotels, Car Rentals, Packages) and a destination dropdown that matches the hotel's address. Every card is a hotel, because that is all the page fetches.

A card shows only what the supplier stated:

  • The hotel's own photo, or a plain No photo supplied panel when the supplier sent none. It never shows a stock photo of another hotel.
  • The star class and the review score with its review count, each only when the supplier gives one.
  • Up to three highlights taken from the rate itself: the room name, free cancellation and its deadline, breakfast and the rate's amenities. A rate that states none shows none.
  • The price a night and the total for the stay, with the dates and guests it was quoted for. It includes the agency markup and is worked out the same way as the Search Results page and the basket. There is no struck-through price or saving.

Book Now on a deal does not create a booking. It re-runs the same hotel search for the same stay and drops you on the Search Results page, where you carry on exactly as with any other search — pick a rate, add it to your basket, then check out.

Destinations

Explore > Destinations works the same way as Deals: it runs one live hotel search over South Africa for a three-night stay two weeks ahead and shows up to twelve priced hotels as “destinations”. Filter them with the search box. A category dropdown appears only when the cards hold more than one category; today every card is a hotel, so it does not.

As on Deals, a card shows only what the supplier stated: the hotel's own photo or a plain No photo supplied panel, the country, the star class and review score when given, highlights from the rate, and the price a night with the stay total and dates it was quoted for.

Explore on a card runs a hotel search for that destination and opens the Search Results page.

Important: Both pages hand the Search Results page the same stay the card was priced for — its check-in, check-out and guest count, with South Africa as the residency. The results page asks the supplier again, so a price can move if the hotel's rate has changed since the card loaded. Start a fresh search from Search if you want different dates or a different residency.

Saving and Sharing

The heart icon keeps a deal or destination in your account, and it stays hearted wherever that hotel appears. Open Explore and choose Saved to see everything you kept, on any device you sign in on. No price is kept, because prices change: Check prices opens the search with the hotel filled in, you choose your dates and guests, and the search shows today's price. Tap a filled heart to remove an item. You can keep up to 200 items.

The share icon opens your device's share sheet where the browser has one, passing the address of the Deals or Destinations page itself — not a link to that single card. Where there is no share sheet it copies a one-line description to your clipboard instead, even though the confirmation message calls it a link.
